Hotel Art Consultant Mondrian Hotel Gold Coast

Markian was honoured to be appointed as the lead art consultant for the highly anticipated Mondrian Hotel Gold Coast, a landmark project that marks the hotel brand’s first foray into Australia. This prestigious appointment reflects Markian’s growing reputation as a leading design studio capable of shaping holistic visual narratives through art.

The project demanded a thoughtful and immersive art program spanning guest rooms, public spaces, and amenity areas. Our team worked closely with the project architects, interior designers, and the hotel owner to ensure the art became an integral part of the interior story—not just decoration, but atmosphere.

The final collection included:

  • 103 Bespoke Art Prints
Custom-designed prints by contemporary artists Christopher de Waal McKenzie , each tailored to resonate with the tone of the individual spaces, bringing cohesion and sophistication to the guest experience.

  • 22 Unique Sculptures
Commissioned and site-specific, these sculptural works act as dramatic anchors within the hotel’s interior architecture and outdoor areas.

  • 312 Bespoke Wall Canvases
Hand-finished and diverse in palette and texture, these canvases inject character into each guest room and suite while reflecting the hotel’s refined, beachside aesthetic.

  • Over 20 Original Artworks
Carefully selected or commissioned from leading contemporary artists Christopher de Waal McKenzie, these pieces form the heart of the collection, offering authenticity and artistic integrity.

At Markian, we believe that art is not an afterthought—it is a spatial narrative. For the Mondrian Hotel, we developed a visual story inspired by the dynamic energy of the Gold Coast, interpreted through a lens of contemporary minimalism and modernist sensibilities. The curated works balance bold colour fields with raw textures, echoing both the vibrancy and serenity of the coastal environment.
